District level elections across Bangladesh yesterday and lots of candidates for people to choose from.  Even though most are party hacks, under the electioral laws here they have to stand as independents, each with their own symbol.

Are the good times here again?

Dhaka’s rich and mighty have been keeping a low profile since we got here. The caretaker government’s crackdown on corruption has seen a lot of them arrested. Those who avoided jail, or were among those recently been released on bail, have been careful not to draw attention to themselves with conspicuous displays of wealth.
